Method and scope

Four campground options compared on power, water, winter services and rental delivery, using park-level facilities rather than assuming identical services at every site.

Limitations

Check the selected site and dates. Confirm essential winter showers at Chatfield, winter fill/dump at RMNP and the applicable limit for longer or repeat Cherry Creek stays.

Choose for the season first

For a Denver basecamp, compare Chatfield and Cherry Creek using your actual travel dates. Summer facility descriptions do not carry over unchanged to winter. For State Forest, narrow the choice to a named campground; for Rocky Mountain National Park, narrow it to one of the four summer RV campgrounds.

The table compares published campground services for a rental stay. It helps you choose where to look next; use the selected site record to finish the decision.

Power does not answer the water question

Chatfield’s full hookups are seasonal, with electric-only winter options. Cherry Creek lists power connections but has winter limits on its dump station and camper services. State Forest’s facilities vary by campground and season.

Moraine Park has electric sites, while no RMNP campsite has a water hookup. If the rental needs power, water and waste services, put each on its own line before choosing a site.

Match the rental arrangement to the park

At the state parks, confirm the proposed commercial delivery with the park and agree the exact setup and collection with the owner. For RMNP, use a park-authorized operator and confirm the trailer and reserved site meet its delivery conditions.

If the trip depends on a winter shower, dump station or water fill, get a current answer before booking. If that service cannot be confirmed, change the plan while you still have alternatives.

Compare the stay you can plan

Scroll the table sideways to compare all four columns. Keyboard users can focus the table and use the arrow keys.

Park Power and water planning Winter decision Best next step
Chatfield Seasonal full hookups; electric-only options year-round. C-loop winter camping; confirm showers and laundry. Choose the exact site and check the entrance for the rental’s height.
Cherry Creek Check the selected site’s power and utilities. Abilene Loop only, November 1–March 31; dump station closes for winter. Confirm essential services and the stay limit for a longer or repeat visit.
State Forest Facilities vary across named campgrounds; water turns off October 31. Several campgrounds have autumn closures; winter amenities vary. Identify the campground and dates before choosing the unit.
Rocky Mountain National Park Moraine Park has electric sites; no campsite has a water hookup. Moraine Park winter camping is first-come first-served; confirm fill and dump services. Match a specific site and unit; use an authorized operator if arranging delivery.

Turn the comparison into a shortlist

For a Denver weekend, compare Chatfield with Cherry Creek on the same dates. If winter water or waste facilities are essential, settle those before comparing rental prices. A summer full-hookup description cannot answer the winter question.

Choose State Forest when you want to plan around a named campground and its season. Choose Rocky Mountain National Park only after comparing the campground, site length and service requirements. Its summer 2027 opening dates are still to be announced.

Use the first-rental workbook to keep the site and rental commitments together. Record power, water, waste and delivery as separate answers, then compare the full quote for the arrangement you can actually book.
